Creative Art for Your Home
Make your house your own!

Want some fun and creative ways to dress your walls on the cheap? Look no further! Here are some creative ways to add personality to your walls and feel like your home is totally about you!
1. Wrap a textile around a wooden frame or canvas. They are readily available in various sizes at the dollar store. Here we have used a tablecloth but you could use a fabric remnant or even a vintage piece from a thrift store. All that matters is that you LOVE it! Attach the textile to the back of the frame with a stapler or even duct tape - it doesn't need to be permanent.
2. Frame art from a creative friend or even a child. This is totally one of a kind art. Here we have framed (in an inexpensive IKEA frame) a friend's work that looks fun and vintage.
3. Hang something from your hobby. We hung a horseshoe to reflect the resident's equestrian hobby. You could also hang a pool cue, a sports jersey or even line up books on a small shelf with a lip. Look for vintage items that reflect your hobby in the past. Thrift stores are full of vintage tennis racquets, golf clubs and games.
4. Speaking of sports, hang something fun from your favourite teams. Here we have framed a flattened cereal box but you could frame tickets (from music concerts, too!) or even pins or cork coasters.
5. Frame a map. Google a map of your neighbourhood, or another favourite place. Express your inner Kindergartner and colour in the special place to highlight it on the map. You will feel at home every time you look at it!
6. Frame postcards. These are inexpensive, interesting and you can even get copies of great art. You don't have to travel far and wide to collect postcards. They're readily available in your hometown at museums, art galleries, and gift shops. These are framed in (cheap) dollar store frames but they look like a million bucks!
We'd love to hear from you! What have you done to express yourself in your home through art?
